Crispy French Fries
Make restaurant-style crispy French fries at home with just a few simple ingredients. These fries are golden, crunchy outside and soft inside.
Ingredients
- 4 large potatoes
- Cold water
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch (optional)
- Cooking oil for frying
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- ½ teaspoon paprika
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
Instructions
- Peel the potatoes if desired and cut them into even strips.
- Soak the potato strips in cold water for at least 30 minutes.
- Drain and dry the potatoes completely using paper towels.
- Lightly coat the fries with cornstarch for extra crispiness.
- Heat oil to 325°F (163°C).
- Fry the potatoes for about 5 minutes without browning them.
- Remove and let them rest for 5 minutes.
- Increase oil temperature to 375°F (190°C).
- Fry again until golden brown and crispy.
- Season immediately with salt, pepper, paprika and garlic powder.
- Serve hot with ketchup, mayonnaise or your favorite dipping sauce.
